Recently, there are a lot of complaints about the timing line of Magotan from FAW-Volkswagen. It is another big quality problem after gearbox of DSG. In recent 3 months, the number of complaints about this are more than 100. But Volkswagen chooses to ask owners to repair and pay for it, considering it is caused by lack of maintenance. From the relevant experts, the timing line is a proven technique and needs to change after 200 to 300 thousand kilometer so the manufacturer should recall the cars with quality problem.
From some media, in recent 30 days, there are 57 complaints about the timing line of Magotan, 39 for 1.8t and 18 for 2.0t, from Beijing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang etc. Mr. Song, the president of automotive technology Institute of Tsinghua University, said, timing line is already a proven technique and the manufacturer should be blamed if there are same problem in the same batch. By now, the Volkswagen hasn't responded for this yet.
The owners regard it as quality problem and the manufacturer should recall their cars. But FAW-Volkswagen thinks the owners should be blamed for lack of maintenance. Mr. Zhang, a famous analyst, said, it is decided by the number of cars with this problem.
