The Chinese car manufacturer Geely has said it will leave Volvo intact if it manages to buy the Swedish brand from US auto giant Ford.
Volvo's existing production, research and development facilities, union agreements and dealer networks would be left unchanged, according to the company's top executive.
Chairman Li Shufu has said he has no plans to change Volvo, with Volvo and Geely being two independently managed brands.
Geely is one of China's largest private car manufacturers.
Ford and Geely announced on Wednesday they had agreed on the main terms of the sale.
