Gasgoo Munich-On August 25, VOYAH captured the industry's attention with a four-hour live-stream teardown. But the subject wasn't a showroom-fresh vehicle; it was a Taishan X8 EV test car that had endured 40,000 kilometers of durability testing—equivalent to 300,000 km on the road.
The company rigorously inspected core components—including the three-chamber air suspension, battery protection, and body skeleton—against standards exceeding national benchmarks. The move aims to address consumer concerns over the long-term durability of new-energy vehicles.

At the teardown site, three critical test results emerged:
Three-chamber air suspension: After simulating 300,000 km of wear, the system was submerged for 30 minutes without producing new bubbles, and pressure remained stable. The front air spring chambers are made of aluminum—a contrast to the plastic welding solutions often used by rivals. This material offers superior strength, deformation resistance, and corrosion protection, particularly in high-temperature environments. Meanwhile, the chassis showed no signs of oil or fluid leaks after 40,000 km of grueling durability testing, with metal parts free of obvious corrosion and bushing ball joints in normal condition.
Battery protection: A teardown of the Amber 2.0 battery pack revealed no significant wear traces, with sealing intact. The pack features 16 layers of physical protection, including a 1,500 MPa hot-formed steel underbody shield and 3.7 mm aluminum crossbeams—six times thicker than national standards require. The coating utilizes 0.8 mm military-grade polyurea.
Body skeleton: After slicing open the A-pillar skin, the 2,200 MPa hot-formed steel door ring remained intact and undeformed, with door opening dimensions matching original factory baselines. The "Star Chain" skeleton—composed of 19 crossbeams, 11 longitudinal beams, and 8 vertical beams—effectively disperses collision impact, maintaining zero attenuation in cabin rigidity.

"It’s not just the Taishan X8; every VOYAH vehicle undergoes durability testing," Shao Mingfeng, VOYAH’s CBO and general manager of sales, said during the broadcast.
Disassembling a new car proves it is "factory-qualified," but tearing down a test car answers the question: "Will it hold up a decade from now?"
Positioned as the world's first all-terrain pure electric SUV, the Taishan X8 EV features a fully self-developed "Tiger Ju" smart chassis. Over 95% of its components are aluminum, and paired with a three-chamber air suspension and EDC "Magic Carpet" system, it can tackle extreme terrains like the "Hero Slope" and 45-degree ladders. The Amber 2.0 battery has secured multiple authoritative certifications, including a five-star EV safety rating, compliance with new national standards, and the EU's new battery regulations.
By opting to dismantle a used test car rather than a new one, this live stream offered a distinct strategy. It brought real-world durability performance—tested above national standards—into the public eye, providing a rare empirical assessment of long-term reliability for new-energy vehicles.
