Gasgoo Munich-On September 19 that at the "Premium Insights" session of the 22nd China Automotive Industry Development (TEDA) International Forum, Wang Chao, Vice President of Huawei Digital Power and President of eMobility Product Line, delivered a keynote speech. He proposed a path to break the industry's homogeneity deadlock through underlying innovation in the motion domain.
Wang noted that since entering the automotive sector, Huawei DriveONE has made accelerating electrification its mission. The company secured the top spot among independent Tier 1 suppliers in both 2024 and 2025, capturing over 30% of shipment volume in models priced above 300,000 yuan. By the end of this year, cumulative shipments are set to surpass 3 million units.

Regarding innovation in the motion domain, Wang outlined a three-stage evolution path. Stage 1.0 builds distributed experiences based on instinctive safety and "super components." Stage 2.0 adds redundant safety and near-end closed-loop capabilities, using second-generation super components to form a "super system" that introduces predictive algorithms. Stage 3.0 explores full-domain safety, integrating in real-time with autonomous driving and cockpit domains to enable scenario-based fine control and the optimal motion domain experience across all scenarios. The core goal is to shift from "single-motor intelligence" to "motion domain intelligence," achieving a state where "the car moves with the driver and the autonomous system."
On range efficiency, Wang stated the industry has moved beyond the "add battery, add range" phase of 1.0 and the motor efficiency improvement phase of 2.0, entering a 3.0 stage of systematic energy efficiency. By 2025, the industry will be capable of delivering 10 kilometers per kilowatt-hour (kWh). Huawei achieved the 10 km/kWh benchmark in 2024, will possess 12 km/kWh technical capability in 2025, mass-produce pure electric models reaching 12 km/kWh in 2026, and aim for 14 km/kWh in 2027.
Concluding his speech, Wang issued three appeals to the industry: first, promote cross-OEM platform standards to build million-unit scale platforms for individual components; second, achieve deep integration among autonomous driving, cockpit, and motion domains using a "common protocol plus private protocol" approach to lower adaptation costs while preserving differentiation; and third, advance unified standards for high- and low-voltage wiring harness interfaces to reduce mold development waste.
"We hope to do difficult but right things, standing with the Chinese automotive industry to secure a tomorrow and a future," Wang said.
