What were the big stories in the new energy vehicle market this week?

Onvo L80 presale begins: Powered by NIO's full tech stack, BaaS model starts at 159,800 yuan

On April 28, NIO's sub-brand Onvo held a product launch event in Hangzhou for the L80. NIO founder and CEO Li Bin officially announced the presale prices: 245,800 yuan for the full vehicle purchase, and 159,800 yuan for the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option.

Measuring over 5.1 meters long, featuring battery swapping, an all-aluminum body, and a flagship smart architecture, this large five-seat SUV comes with a BaaS entry price under 160,000 yuan—a figure that genuinely caught the industry off guard.

In terms of specs, the L80 looks like NIO poured every yuan spent and every breakthrough made over the last decade into a single package—packing in more than anyone expected. Notably, it houses NIO's Shenji NX9031, the world's first 5nm automotive-grade smart driving chip.

Showroom vehicles are already in place nationwide. Test drives kick off on May 1, followed by the official market launch on May 15. The industry now waits to see how it performs.

Gasgoo Comment: A concentrated release of NIO's technical dividends, delivering value with lethal impact. Now, the focus shifts to delivery cadence.

Changan NEVO Q07 Tianshu Intelligent Laser Edition sees 3,000 yuan price hike

On April 30, Changan NEVO issued a price adjustment notice. Citing a significant surge in global automotive-grade chip costs, the company will raise the official guide price for its mid-sized new energy SUV, the NEVO Q07 Tianshu Intelligent Laser Edition, by 3,000 yuan. The new pricing takes effect on May 7.

According to the official announcement, the adjustment is strictly targeted: it applies only to vehicles starting production after midnight on May 7. Inventory units built before that cutoff will continue to sell at the original price, shielded from the increase.

The lineup includes three trims: the 215 Laser Zunrong, 215 Laser Flagship, and 215 Laser Flagship PLUS. Previously priced at 156,800 yuan, 166,800 yuan, and 176,800 yuan, they will now sell for 159,800 yuan, 169,800 yuan, and 179,800 yuan respectively.

To date, Changan NEVO has held prices on other versions steady, making this a targeted move limited to a specific high-end trim.

Gasgoo Comment: Raising prices against the drumbeat of a price war highlights the pain of rising costs—while testing how much consumers value intelligent driving features.

Wenda V9 presale begins at 219,900 yuan with subsidies

On April 28, BAIC Arcfox debuted its first premium product series, "Wenda," simultaneously unveiling the Taiyue platform—a chassis built exclusively for large flagship vehicles.

The platform's first product, the Wenda V9—a flagship MPV focused on all-domain comfort—officially entered presale. Four trims (1250Max, 1250Max+, 1330Ultra, and 1330Ultra+) are offered at subsidized prices ranging from 219,900 to 286,900 yuan.

Specs-wise, the V9 spans 5,300mm in length with a 3,200mm wheelbase. It rides on intelligent preview magnetorheological suspension with a front double-wishbone and rear five-link setup, featuring a "one-key relaxation" mode. The second row offers dual zero-gravity positioning, 16-point massage, and graphene heating. Interior space utilization hits 77%, with third-row headroom reaching 970mm and cushion length at 500mm.

On the powertrain front, the V9 employs a range-extender setup paired with electric drive. Total range reaches 1,330km on a full tank and charge, while pure electric range is 310km.

Gasgoo Comment: The 200,000-yuan new energy market is already a red ocean. Whether the V9 can gain a foothold depends entirely on the product itself.
