WeRide integrates Robotaxi service into WeChat through expanded Tencent Cloud partnership

Gasgoo Munich- On March 13, WeRide announced an expanded strategic partnership with Tencent Cloud, bringing its Robotaxi service directly into the "Tencent Mobility Services" mini program within WeChat, according to a post on WeRide's WeChat account. With the integration now live, users can request and pay for autonomous rides without leaving the WeChat ecosystem, eliminating the need to switch between multiple applications.

By leveraging the high-traffic entry point of Tencent's mobility mini program, WeRide aims to expose its Robotaxi services to the vast user base of WeChat and embed autonomous rides into everyday travel scenarios. The company expects the integration to significantly expand user reach and usage frequency. Over time, the platform's massive traffic could translate into a steady stream of ride orders, accelerating the commercialization of WeRide's Robotaxi business and helping the company move closer to achieving profitability on a per-vehicle basis.

In the near future, WeRide's Robotaxi services will also be integrated into Tencent Maps, adding another channel through which users can access autonomous ride-hailing.

The first phase of the service rollout is available to users in Guangzhou, where passengers can access WeRide's Robotaxi directly through the Tencent Mobility Services interface within WeChat. After entering a pick-up and drop-off location, the system will offer the "Autonomous Driving – WeRide" option if a Robotaxi stop is nearby. Early users are also being offered promotional ride discounts, allowing them to experience the company's spacious five-seat GXR Robotaxi model. The partners plan to gradually expand availability to additional cities in the future.

The partnership between the two companies dates back to April 2024, when WeRide and Tencent Cloud first established a strategic alliance focused on autonomous driving cloud platforms. In May 2025, the collaboration was further expanded to support the large-scale commercialization of Level 4 Robotaxi services. The launch of WeRide Robotaxi within Tencent's mobility ecosystem marks the latest outcome of that multi-year partnership and signals a new stage in their joint push toward broader autonomous ride-hailing deployment.

WeRide said it has built its Robotaxi strategy around a safety-first approach and a strong focus on user experience, combining localized service networks with city-level operations. In China, the company has already launched fully driverless commercial Robotaxi services in both Guangzhou and Beijing. To broaden access, the company has introduced multiple service entry points, including its dedicated WeRide mobile app and a WeChat-based mini program.

Beyond China, WeRide has been rapidly expanding its presence in the global mobility ecosystem. Its Robotaxi fleet is already connected to major ride-hailing and mobility platforms such as Uber, Grab, and TXAI, with integration planned for the Swiss on-demand mobility platform IOKI. The company has launched fully driverless commercial operations in Abu Dhabi and currently runs public services in Dubai and Riyadh. Driverless services are expected to begin soon in Dubai, while pilot operations and autonomous driving tests are underway in Singapore and Zurich.
