Gasgoo Munich- On May 18, the WEY V9X made its global debut. Positioned as an "AI luxury six-seater flagship," the new model starts at 349,800 yuan. During a dialogue session at the launch event, Great Wall Motor Chairman Wei Jianjun opened up about his anxieties in manufacturing, stating clearly that his greatest fear is a post-delivery failure.

Wei laid out three specific worries. First, the concern that customers spending hundreds of thousands won't get the experience they expect. Second, the risk that even a minor oversight could damage the V9X's reputation—and worse, erode trust in Chinese luxury brands as a whole. Third, the fear of letting down every customer who chose to place their faith in WEY.

Take the Haval H8. During testing, engineers detected slight vibrations in the rear axle. The technical team argued most drivers wouldn't notice, but Wei overruled them. He delayed the launch twice, absorbing over 10 billion yuan in losses to uphold a simple principle: never treat customers as guinea pigs.

The V9X is a flagship six years in the making. Built on the GWM ONE S platform, it comes in three trims—Executive Long, Luxury Family, and Luxury Long—designed to handle everything from high-end business travel to family road trips.

Under the hood, the entire lineup runs on a 2.0-liter Super Hi4 hybrid architecture, delivering 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 4 seconds regardless of battery charge. WLTC fuel consumption at low battery is just 6.3 liters, with a CLTC combined range hitting 1,700 km. The chassis features dual-chamber air suspension and 20 degrees of rear-axle steering, while the tech stack includes dual VLA large models. On safety, high-strength steel and alloys make up 88.8% of the structure, with peak strength reaching 2,200 MPa.

Notably, Wei is serving as the V9X's lifetime brand ambassador in his capacity as founder, bypassing celebrity influencers entirely. It's a move that ties his personal reputation directly to the vehicle's quality.

Alongside the launch, WEY rolled out limited-time incentives: a 5,000-yuan deposit counts as 10,000, 10,000 yuan off for trading in a Great Wall vehicle (8,000 yuan for other brands), and three years of zero-interest financing. As competition in the luxury six-seater segment heats up, the arrival of the V9X is set to intensify the battle for market share.
