Gasgoo Munich- SAIC-GM-Wuling and CATL signed a strategic partnership agreement in Ningde, Fujian on April 14. The two companies plan to deepen collaboration across four key areas: scaling up industrial operations, developing battery-swapping technology compatible with both passenger and commercial vehicles, expanding jointly overseas, and building a synergistic ecosystem. Building on nearly a decade of collaboration, the partners are elevating their relationship from single-model supply to a full-lineup, full-scenario ecosystem alliance. On the battery front, more than 15 new-energy models from SAIC-GM-Wuling will designate CATL as their core power battery supplier. The duo also plans to explore overseas markets together.
The Huajing S, which debuted in April, is already equipped with CATL batteries, leveraging their high power output to enhance the smart mobility experience. Furthermore, the companies plan to co-develop fast-charging technology with a target of charging from 10% to 80% in under 10 minutes.
On the infrastructure front, SAIC-GM-Wuling’s full lineup of battery-swappable models will gradually integrate into CATL’s nationwide swapping network. The system is expected to comprise more than 3,000 stations by the end of the year. With battery capacities ranging from 42 to 56 kWh, the network will support a variety of scenarios—from micro EVs and A/B-class passenger cars to commercial logistics vehicles—enabling a "swap-and-go" experience. Additionally, the partners will explore applications for autonomous vehicles to drive further industrial synergy.
