Xiaomi Auto announced on the evening of January 15 that it plans to lower the mileage threshold for new users accessing its driver-assistance features. The company said it has taken user feedback on the unlock requirements for its Xiaomi HAD City Navigation system to heart. To allow more drivers to experience the city pilot function sooner—without compromising safety—it has optimized the unlocking standard.

When Xiaomi Auto launched its City Navigation Pilot (CNOA) in 2024, it set a prerequisite of 1,000 kilometers of safe assisted driving. Users had to accumulate that distance using Highway Navigation Pilot (HNOA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Lane Centering Assist (LCC) before the CNOA function would automatically unlock.
Since then, the automaker has received a flood of feedback across multiple channels, with users largely calling for a lower barrier to entry. After careful evaluation and discussions with drivers, Xiaomi Auto decided to embrace the suggestion and plans to reduce this safety mileage requirement.
The change is expected to roll out with the next over-the-air (OTA) software update. Xiaomi Auto reminded drivers that while the threshold is dropping, assisted driving is not autonomous driving. Users must remain attentive to road conditions and be ready to take control of the vehicle at all times.
