Gasgoo Munich- On September 3, during media day at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin, Xiaomi EV announced it has signed memorandums of understanding with eight leading German automotive dealer groups, officially kicking off the construction of its localized retail and after-sales network in Europe. Lu Weibing, a partner and president at Xiaomi Group, confirmed the progress in the early hours of September 4 via his personal Weibo account, a move echoed by the company's official account.

In his Weibo post, Lu revealed that the dealers are formidable partners, with some boasting histories spanning over a century. Their collaboration rests on three shared understandings: "Technology" — viewing Xiaomi as a tech powerhouse rather than just a phone or car manufacturer; "Premium" — recognizing the market validation of the Xiaomi SU7's high-end positioning, which is set to become the sales leader in the 200,000 yuan-plus sedan segment in 2025; and "Ecosystem" — drawn to the unique advantage of Xiaomi's "Human x Car x Home" ecosystem. Lu also noted that Xiaomi conducted extensive market research in Germany last year, while dealer representatives visited its factory during the Beijing Auto Show, cementing their confidence in the company.
Under the plan, Xiaomi's export-bound models will travel to Sweden, Germany, Spain, and Italy. There, they will undergo high-speed verification and functional testing across seven authoritative sites, including the Arjeplog winter testing facility and the Nürburgring racetrack.
Yu Liguo, vice president of Xiaomi EV, previously stated that the company is committed to long-term investment in Europe, anchored by its European R&D center in Munich. In August, Xiaomi launched its global website and international social media channels.
Lu emphasized that Xiaomi's globalization strategy prioritizes "tackling the hardest markets first," rooting itself in the world's premier automotive R&D hubs to build cars for a global audience. This partnership signals a substantive phase in Xiaomi EV's entry into the European market, with sales officially expected to begin in Germany and other European nations by 2027.
