Gasgoo Munich- XPENG recently announced that its new AI flagship SUV, the G9L, has completed its first European trial production at Magna's Graz plant in Austria. This marks the fourth XPENG model to undergo localized trial production at the facility, following the G6, G9, and P7+.
The first European-spec G9L will depart from Graz and drive 1,324 km to Paris for its global debut at the Paris Motor Show, which opens on October 12. During the journey, the vehicle will simultaneously validate its intelligent driving system, charging capabilities, and dynamic performance—using real-world road testing to confirm reliability for the European market.

Designed as a global model from the outset, the G9L officially launched in China in September. The European version, however, has undergone extensive localization to align with local regulations and driving habits. Targeted adjustments to the body structure, seat configuration, interaction system, and charging ecosystem ensure it meets both European market entry standards and user expectations.
Magna's Graz plant serves as the hub for XPENG's localized European manufacturing. Leveraging Magna's established production system, XPENG has initiated trial production for multiple models locally. This approach shortens delivery cycles and allows for a faster response to European demand—a critical component of the automaker's "In Europe, For Europe" strategy.
XPENG plans to officially unveil the European specifications and market rollout timeline for the G9L at the Paris Motor Show. With the G9L's arrival, XPENG aims to bolster its European product lineup and export the AI automotive technology it has honed in China. The start of European trial production for the G9L also signals a shift for Chinese automakers: globalization is evolving beyond simple vehicle exports to encompass full-chain localization—including product definition, manufacturing, and verification.
