Gasgoo Munich- XPENG founder and chairman He Xiaopeng has revealed the company's first full-size, flagship six-seat SUV, the XPENG GX, sharing official images of the new model on social media. The announcement marks XPENG's entry into the high-end family SUV segment, an increasingly competitive space as Chinese automakers push further upmarket.

The GX adopts XPENG's latest design language, presenting a clean yet commanding exterior. Official images show a wide, full-width light bar across the front, paired with a bold lower fascia and sculpted air channels that lend the large SUV a more dynamic visual character.
Explaining the rationale behind the project, He said extensive user research pointed to persistent shortcomings in existing three-row SUVs. Many models struggle to offer lasting comfort in the third row, adequate cargo space when fully loaded, and car-like handling at the same time. This trade-off—often described within the industry as an “impossible triangle” of comfort, space and driving dynamics—has forced families to compromise on every trip. XPENG set out to address these pain points with a purpose-built six-seat flagship SUV.
During development, the vehicle carried the internal code name G01. According to He, the “1” symbolized a first-principles approach, applying end-to-end AI thinking to rethink what a full-size family flagship SUV should be. As the model moves toward mass production, it has been given its market name, GX. The “X” reflects both exploration of new mobility experiences and XPENG's technology-driven DNA, underscoring its ambition to solve real-world problems through engineering.
The GX is built on XPENG's latest SEPA 3.0 physical AI vehicle architecture, which the company says delivers a step change in system integration, intelligence, handling and safety philosophy. An AI-enabled chassis featuring steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering is designed to overturn the perception that large SUVs are cumbersome, offering a blend of agility and stability suited to both daily urban driving and long-distance family travel.
Looking ahead, He described the XPENG GX as an AI-powered luxury six-seat flagship SUV intended to redefine comfort, advanced technology and safety in a single mobile space. He added that the company hopes the model will soon enable families to travel farther and more comfortably together, as it prepares for its market debut in the coming months.
