The group has obtained qualification for intelligent connected vehicle demonstration operations in Guangzhou, enabling it to conduct Level 4 Robotaxi services across the entire city. This marks a transition from technical validation to the verification of operations and business models.
According to the automaker, XPENG YOYO is built on the flagship GX model and stands as China's first mass-produced Robotaxi featuring full-stack in-house technology. It is equipped with four in-house Turing AI chips delivering 3,000 TOPS of effective computing power and a second-generation VLA model, operating without reliance on lidar or high-definition maps. Since the start of the year, the vehicle has completed road testing, rolled off the production line, undergone internal employee testing, and passed remote testing without a safety driver in the front seat—accumulating more than 2,000 internal test orders. Officially named on October 8, the service launched a ride-hailing mini-program, opening public access via invitation codes.
On the commercial front, XPENG positions its Robotaxi business as a technology provider and ecosystem enabler, offering integrated solutions to global partners that include vehicle platforms, autonomous driving software, and AI capabilities. During the initial demonstration phase, XPENG YOYO will continue to expand its service scope steadily via invitation codes, with plans to launch passenger-carrying operations without safety drivers next year.
