Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 5, Zeekr officially announced the name of its upcoming flagship SUV as the Zeekr 8X, releasing a lightly camouflaged preview video that marks the model's first public appearance.
Footage shared by the company suggests the 8X carries forward Zeekr's latest design language. The front end features a waterfall-style grille paired with matrix headlights, while a roof-mounted LiDAR unit signals advanced driver-assistance ambitions. New wheel designs and conventional mechanical door handles round out the exterior details visible so far.

At the rear, the SUV continues Zeekr's family styling, with taillights closely resembling those of the flagship Zeekr 9X. The upper section appears to adopt a full-width light strip, while the lower portion seems to use a split layout, subtly differentiating it from the 9X.
Zeekr has yet to disclose interior design details or full powertrain specifications, but it has confirmed that the 8X will use a plug-in hybrid system. Market sources suggest that the top-tier variant could share the same tri-motor, megawatt-level electric drive setup seen on the Zeekr 9X. For reference, the three-motor version of the 9X delivers a combined output of up to 1,030 kW, pairs a 2.0-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid system, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds. The 8X is also expected to feature a high-end chassis package, potentially including Zeekr's SEA AI digital chassis, a 48-volt active anti-roll system, dual-chamber air suspension and CDC adaptive dampers.
The model's arrival has been slightly delayed from earlier expectations. In May 2025, during Geely's first-quarter earnings call, Zeekr Technology Group CEO An Conghui indicated that the mid-to-large SUV then known as the Zeekr 8X was planned for release in the fourth quarter.
From a portfolio perspective, Zeekr has already rolled out several SUV models, including the 7X and 9X. The upcoming 8X is expected to fill a gap in the lineup as a high-performance, plug-in hybrid flagship SUV, further strengthening Zeekr's presence in the premium SUV segment and rounding out its high-end product matrix.
