Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 5, Zeekr officially named its new flagship SUV the Zeekr 8X and released a teaser showing the lightly camouflaged model.

According to the official video, the model carries Zeekr's latest design language: a waterfall-style grille and matrix headlights up front, standard roof-mounted lidar, new wheel designs, and conventional mechanical door handles.

The rear continues the family look. The taillights closely mirror those on the flagship 9X: a full-width light bar on the upper section, while the lower portion appears split — a subtle departure from the 9X. A lidar unit sits at the front edge of the roof, suggesting support for advanced driver-assistance features.
For now, Zeekr hasn't disclosed the 8X's interior or powertrain details, though it's clear the SUV will use a plug-in hybrid system. Reports suggest the range-topping 8X could adopt a three-motor, megawatt-class electric drive similar to the 9X. For reference, the three-motor 9X delivers up to 1,030 kilowatts, pairs with a 2.0T plug-in hybrid system, and sprints from 0-100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. The chassis, meanwhile, is expected to feature the SEA AI digital chassis, a 48-volt active stabilizer bar, dual-chamber air suspension, and CDC variable-damping shock absorbers.
Notably, the 8X's launch has been pushed back slightly. At Geely's Q1 2025 results briefing in May, Zeekr Technology Group CEO An Conghui said the mid-to-large 8X would debut in the fourth quarter.
From a lineup perspective, Zeekr already offers SUVs such as the 7X and 9X. The 8X will fill a gap as a high-performance PHEV flagship SUV, further rounding out Zeekr's presence in the premium SUV segment.
