Zeekr Responds to Recall of Some 001 WE Vehicles: Free Power Battery Replacement

Edited by Taylor From Gasgoo

On Feb. 10, Zhejiang ZEEKR Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. (ZEEKR) filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation, the regulator's website showed. Acting on behalf of Zhejiang Geely Automobile Co., Ltd., the move complies with national regulations on defective auto product recalls.

Under the plan, ZEEKR will recall 38,277 units of the ZEEKR 001 WE manufactured between July 8, 2021, and March 18, 2024, starting March 6, 2026. The affected vehicles may have inconsistencies in the manufacturing of their high-voltage battery packs, which can cause internal resistance to rise abnormally over time. This could lead to degraded battery performance and, in extreme cases, thermal runaway — posing a safety risk.

ZEEKR stated it will inspect or remotely diagnose the vehicles and replace the battery pack free of charge for units that haven't already had the work done. As an emergency measure, the company's cloud warning platform will alert drivers in advance of potential risks, dispatching active rescue services through its 400 hotline. If a fault occurs, the battery warning light will illuminate and an alarm will sound; drivers should pull over immediately and contact ZEEKR's service hotline.

Meanwhile, ZEEKR's website posted a statement explaining the voluntary recall of certain ZEEKR 001 WE 86 models.

ZEEKR clarified that its current lineup is not affected by this recall. The company noted that during a special campaign launched in late 2024, it had already replaced battery packs for some 001 WE 86 vehicles experiencing issues like slower charging speeds or inaccurate battery level readings. Those vehicles received newly manufactured packs and do not require replacement again.

The company added that drivers can continue using their vehicles normally before the recall begins. The action is based on data from cloud monitoring and diagnostic systems; if a potential risk is identified, ZEEKR will reach out proactively. If no warning or fault alert is received, the vehicle is considered safe for use, though owners should visit a dealership for inspection once contacted. Regarding warranty, the original coverage for the battery, motor, and electronic control systems remains in full effect: first-time owners retain lifetime warranty coverage, while subsequent owners continue to enjoy an eight-year or 200,000-kilometer warranty.
