Gasgoo Munich- Leapmotor announced on social media on August 7 that founder Zhu Jiangming has personally delivered the company’s D99 to Zeng Yuqun, chairman of battery giant CATL, according to a report by Gasgoo.
Launched in June, the D99 is the first MPV built on Leapmotor’s flagship D platform. The lineup offers six configurations, with range-extended versions priced between 249,800 and 309,800 yuan, and pure electric models ranging from 259,800 to 319,800 yuan.

The D99 is available with both range-extended and pure electric powertrains, and comes standard with dual-motor all-wheel drive across the lineup.
The range-extended variant packs an 80.3 kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering a CLTC pure electric range of 480 km — the longest of any range-extended MPV globally. It also marks the industry’s first application of cell-to-chassis (CTC) technology in a range-extended MPV. Paired with an 800V high-speed charging platform, the battery can charge from 30% to 80% in roughly 15 minutes.
The pure electric model features the global debut of CATL’s "molecular-level fusion hybrid battery." With a capacity of 115 kWh, it achieves a CLTC range of 700 km. Utilizing a full-stack 1,000V high-voltage architecture, the vehicle supports a peak charging power exceeding 460 kW, adding over 350 km of range in just 15 minutes.

This marks Leapmotor’s first entry into the MPV segment and its second model in the D-series following the flagship D19 SUV. The D99 fills a gap in Leapmotor’s high-end MPV lineup, creating a "flagship SUV plus flagship MPV" matrix. It signals the company’s strategic expansion across all price points, from mass-market vehicles to luxury flagships.
Designed for large families and business travel, the D99 measures 5,280 mm long, 1,995 mm wide, and 1,900 mm tall (dropping to 1,880 mm with the air suspension lowered). It sits on a 3,110 mm wheelbase, boasting an interior space utilization rate of 91.3%.
The interior features a 2+2+3 seven-seat layout. The second row is equipped with dual 124° true zero-gravity swivel aviation seats that offer 45° entry rotation, 90° viewing mode, and 180° face-to-face conversation mode. They come with four-way electric leg rests, 10-point full-body massage, 3D wrap-around heating, and dual ventilation. Third-row seats include heating, electric adjustment for backrests and headrests, and can fold electrically by 90° to create a "scenic viewing seat" for outdoor activities like fishing, sightseeing, or camping.
