BYD and ExxonMobil extend hybrid tech partnership in China
China's electric vehicle maker BYD said that it will further strengthen its partnership with U.S. oil giant ExxonMobil in the field of hybrid technology.
The deeper cooperation follows a long-term strategic memorandum of understanding signed on January 26, under which the two companies plan to work together on customised product research and development, as well as explore collaboration opportunities in areas such as new materials.
BYD noted that the partnership builds on existing cooperation, as the two companies jointly launched an engine oil last year that was specifically developed for plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Chery launches its first EV pickup Rely R08 EV
Chery Automobile has officially launched its first all-electric pickup truck, the Rely R08 EV, on January 27, 2026. The new model is offered in six variants with prices ranging from 127,800 to 158,800 yuan.
The R08 EV offers rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The rear-wheel drive version features a 150 kW motor delivering 350 Nm of maximum torque, accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 8.8 seconds. The all-wheel drive variant boasts a combined maximum power of 300 kW and peak torque of 540Nm, cutting the 0-100km/h acceleration time to 5.0 seconds.
For battery options, the rear-wheel-drive variant features a 66.54-kWh or 88-kWh battery pack, delivering a range of 405 km or 510 km. The all-wheel-drive version utilizes an 88-kWh battery pack, achieving a range of 505 km.

Michelin launches first global 'future factory' in Shanghai
The Michelin Group inaugurated its first global "future factory" in Shanghai on Friday, with a total project investment of 3 billion yuan. The new plant features advanced, flexible production systems designed to serve China's expanding new energy vehicle market.
Equipped with Michelin's latest machinery, the "future factory" can produce one tire every 36 seconds and accommodates orders as small as 100 tires. Approximately 70 percent of its output will be dedicated to NEVs, while the order-to-delivery cycle has been reduced from 10 days to five. 
The expansion is set to add 1 million tires to the plant's annual capacity, increasing total output from 8.5 million to 9.5 million tires per year.
