BYD delivers 100,000 new energy vehicles in the UK, expands charging network

BYD Executive Vice President He Zhiqi revealed that BYD has delivered its 100,000th new energy vehicle (NEV) in the UK market.

The company has achieved a 5% share of the overall UK automotive market, becoming the fastest foreign automotive brand in UK history to reach that milestone, accomplishing it in approximately three years.

In the first four months of 2026, BYD sold more than 26,000 NEVs in the UK, increasing its market share to 7.2%.

The performance placed BYD first in the UK's electric vehicle sales rankings during the period, ahead of brands including BMW and Tesla.

BYD has also accelerated the deployment of charging infrastructure in the UK. Its first Super Charging Station in Uxbridge, West London, has entered operation and features the company's latest ultra-fast charging technology.

Under its European market plan, BYD aims to build 300 Super Charging Stations across the UK by the end of 2026, covering major cities and transportation corridors.

Apollo Go Receives Swiss L4 Autonomous Driving Permit, Public Service Planned for 2027

Baidu's autonomous mobility platform Apollo Go has obtained a Level 4 autonomous Robotaxi operating permit in Switzerland.

The permit covers the cantons of St. Gallen, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, and Appenzell Innerrhoden, spanning approximately 80 square kilometers.

The authorization marks the first large-scale commercial autonomous driving operating qualification secured by a Chinese autonomous driving technology provider in Europe.

Apollo Go will partner with PostBus, a subsidiary of Swiss Post, to launch autonomous taxi services under the "AmiGo" brand.

Road testing began on June 1, 2026, with all test vehicles equipped with safety operators during the testing phase.

Following road testing, the service will enter a limited pilot operation phase before a full public commercial launch planned for 2027.

The service will use Baidu's sixth-generation autonomous vehicle, the Apollo RT6, which is an all-electric Robotaxi capable of carrying up to three passengers.

The Apollo RT6 is equipped with more than 30 sensors and Baidu's proprietary onboard computing platform, providing redundant perception and decision-making capabilities.

Swiss stakeholders stated that the Alpine operating environment was selected to test autonomous driving systems under complex terrain and changing weather conditions, while PostBus said the project could support smarter public transportation and improve mobility options in remote areas.

Jingwei Hirain and SEVCPOWER Form Strategic Partnership on Solid-State Battery Applications

On June 16, Jingwei Hirain and SEVCPOWER signed a strategic cooperation agreement focused on integrating intelligent technologies with solid-state energy solutions.

The two companies will jointly explore commercialization pathways for high-safety, high-energy-density solid-state batteries.

Under the agreement, the partners will target early application scenarios including humanoid robots, special-purpose robots, and intelligent transportation equipment.

The collaboration aims to accelerate the transition of solid-state battery technologies from material innovation to large-scale commercial deployment and develop globally competitive products.

Zhang Mingxuan, Vice President of Jingwei Hirain and President of its Central Research Institute, said solid-state batteries are becoming a key technology driving transformation in intelligent terminal industries.

Jingwei Hirain will contribute its capabilities in system integration, electronic and electrical architectures, and global service networks, while SEVCPOWER will provide expertise spanning solid-state electrolyte materials and solid-state battery engineering.

SEVCPOWER Chairman and General Manager Zhu Gaolong stated that the partnership will combine SEVCPOWER's technology accumulation with Jingwei Hirain's industrialization capabilities to help define next-generation energy solutions for intelligent terminals.
