Leapmotor delivers more than 81,000 vehicles in May

On June 1, Leapmotor announced that it delivered 81,569 vehicles in May 2026, up 81% year-on-year and 14.26% from April, setting a new monthly sales record for the brand.

The company has now firmly established itself among China's leading EV startups. After delivering 71,387 vehicles in April, Leapmotor pushed monthly deliveries beyond the 80,000-unit mark in May, raising the benchmark for China's new-energy startup sector.

Beyond its strong domestic momentum, Leapmotor has also achieved significant growth overseas. According to company data, the automaker sold approximately 16,736 battery-electric vehicles across 12 EU markets in the first quarter of 2026, making it the best-selling Chinese EV brand in the European Union during the period.

Across 16 European countries, Leapmotor recorded 23,300 registrations in Q1, a year-on-year increase of 726.5%. In Italy, registrations reached 11,637 units, accounting for 33.5% of the local EV market. The Leapmotor T03 ranked among the top three best-selling EV models in major European markets, while the company also became the leading Chinese EV brand in Germany.

Product momentum remains strong. The newly launched A10 surpassed 20,000 deliveries in May alone, strengthening Leapmotor's position in the affordable SUV segment. Global cumulative sales of the B01 and B10 models have exceeded 200,000 units.

Looking ahead, Leapmotor plans to launch refreshed versions of the C10, C11, and C16 in June, featuring upgrades in design, intelligent technologies, comfort, and driving range. The company's flagship MPV, the D99, is also scheduled to begin pre-sales this month, further expanding its product lineup into higher-end market segments.

XPENG delivers 32,158 vehicles in May, advances AI mobility strategy

XPENG announced on June 1 that it delivered 32,158 vehicles in May 2026.A key contributor to the company's performance was the newly launched XPENG GX, which officially entered the market and began deliveries on May 20. Available in both battery-electric and extended-range versions, the model offers eight variants. XPENG reported that GX secured 24,863 firm orders within 12 hours of launch, with the Ultra flagship version accounting for more than 80% of orders.

In autonomous driving, XPENG reached another milestone with the rollout of its Level-4 Robotaxi in Guangzhou. Based on the GX platform, the vehicle is equipped with four in-house developed Turing AI chips, delivering 3,000 TOPS of effective computing power and system response latency below 80 milliseconds.

Meanwhile, XPENG also continued expanding its charging infrastructure. As of May 31, the company's charging network covered more than 430 cities, supported by over 3,600 self-operated charging stations, including more than 3,100 ultra-fast charging stations.

The company is accelerating the commercialization and global expansion of several AI-driven technologies, including its second-generation VLA model, Turing AI chips, Robotaxi platform, and humanoid robotics programs.

CATL accelerates battery-swapping network expansion, targets over 3,000 stations by end-2026

CATL's Choco-Swap business announced on June 1 that it built 1,020 battery-swapping stations across 45 Chinese cities during 2025.

As of May 2026, the network had expanded to 1,650 stations covering 127 cities nationwide. Over the past six months, CATL has added more than 200 new stations per month on average, highlighting the rapid pace of deployment.

The company also plans to establish an extensive highway battery-swapping network by 2027, forming an "11 vertical, 9 horizontal" corridor system designed to support both daily commuting and long-distance travel.

The rapid rollout reflects CATL's broader strategic transition from battery manufacturer to energy-service provider.

First introduced in 2022, the Choco-Swap concept is based on standardized and modular battery packs aimed at overcoming the limitations of proprietary battery-swapping ecosystems. In March 2025, CATL signed a strategic partnership with NIO to jointly develop a passenger-vehicle battery-swapping network and harmonize technical standards.

In May, CATL further expanded the ecosystem by partnering with FAW, Changan, BAIC, Chery, and GAC to launch ten battery-swap-compatible vehicle models.

According to CATL's roadmap, the Choco-Swap network will exceed 3,000 stations by the end of 2026, covering nearly 190 cities across China, with station density and service coverage continuing to improve in key urban markets.
