Tesla rolls out its 9 millionth EV at Shanghai Gigafactory

On December 30, Tesla said its nine-millionth electric vehicle— a Model Y — had rolled off the production line at the Shanghai Gigafactory, marking another symbolic milestone as 2025 draws to a close. The jump from eight million to nine million vehicles took just six months, highlighting the company's accelerating production pace across its global manufacturing network.

Nearly half of Tesla's global vehicles have been built in Shanghai. In early December 2025, the Shanghai facility marked the rollout of its four-millionth vehicle. 

Changan Auto plans 6-billion-yuan share issue

On December 30, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. announced plans to issue new shares to its indirect controlling shareholder, China Changan Automobile Group, in a deal expected to raise up to 6 billion yuan. Around 4.5 billion yuan is slated for a program focused on NEV model development and digital-intelligence platforms. An additional 1.5 billion yuan will be directed to the construction of a global R&D center and related capability enhancements.

The shares are priced at 9.52 apiece yuan, with a preliminary issuance plan of roughly 630 million shares, representing no more than 30% of the company's current total share capital. The final issuance size remains subject to registration approval by the China Securities Regulatory Commission.

XPENG unveils G7 Super REEV with 1,704 km combined range

On December 30, XPENG Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng revealed the G7 Super REEV, positioning it as the first SUV under the company's Kunpeng extended-range lineup. He said the model delivers a claimed combined range of up to 1,704 kilometers, which XPENG describes as an industry-leading figure on a global scale.

XPENG said the G7 will feature what it claims is the only 800V, 5C ultra-fast-charging AI battery system in its segment. The SUV also adopts XPENG's in-house Turing computing chip, delivering up to 2,250 TOPS of processing power.

While pricing has yet to be announced, the all-electric G7 currently carries a list price ranging from 195,800 to 225,800 yuan.
