Auto Shanghai 2021: BYD launches e-platform 3.0, puts Tang DM-i onto the market
Shanghai (Gasgoo)- At the Auto Shanghai 2021, BYD announced the Tang DM-i officially hit the market, which came with three trim levels with prices ranging from 189,800 yuan ($29,240) and 216,800 yuan ($33,400) after subsidies.

Built on the BYD DM-i platform, the new model is powered by a plug-in hybrid system combining with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and an electric motor, and uses a lithium ion phosphate “Blade Battery”. Based on the battery capacity, it offers two variants whose pure electric ranges are 52km and 112km. Combined range of the Tang DM-i reached up to 1,050km.
As for the appearance, the Tang DM-i basically inherits the BYD family-use “Dragon Face” design language. The silver chrome trim on the front makes the vehicle look sportier.

At the auto show, BYD also offered the public the first glimpse of its concept car X DREAM. The model is also designed on the basis of the “Dragon Face” design language. The interior uses Chinese traditional lacquer craftsmanship, exuding senses of elegance and luxury.
Notably, the Chinese knot element was for the first time used in the concept and will be a key design feature for BYD's future new models.

Meanwhile, BYD unveiled an all-new all-electric hatchback named EA1. The new model rides on the brand's new e-platform 3.0 and gets power from the “Blade Battery” which can receive 150km worth of charge within only five minutes.

The aforesaid e-platform 3.0 is also a significant technical fruit announced by BYD at the Auto Shanghai.
According to the automaker, the platform is designed for the next-generation high-performance smart EVs, boasting four core advantages of intelligence, efficiency, safety, and aesthetics.
The company added that the e-platform not only further integrates and standardizes core components, but also builds a fire new car body, electrical/electronic architecture and the automotive operating system BYDOS.
Like its forerunners the 1.0 and the 2.0 version, the e-platform 3.0 will continue to be open to be other brands, said BYD.
