Beijing Benz may be incorporated into Mercedes-Benz China sales network

The rumors come on the heels of a recent announcement made by Daimler and Beijing Benz parent BAIC to develop closer ties. While the announcement made no specific comments regarding cooperation, it is pretty clear that it spells closer coordination between both Chinese Mercedes companies.

The reports circulating in the media state that BAIC and Daimler would establish a unified sales network company for Benz cars in the country, with each party controlling an even share of the company. The information comes from five anonymous SMS messages reportedly coming from internal sources between July 31 and August 1. When contacted for official confirmation, Mercedes-Benz China stated that they were still researching methods of cooperation. Meanwhile, Beijing Benz made two conflicting statements, saying that the messages were both 'not factual' but did indeed 'exist'.
