Zhang Ding, the director of Vehicle Administration Division of Beijing ICAB (Industrial and Commercial Administration Bureau) said recently: “Beijing has the biggest amount of vehicles and automobile sales volume in 2006 and reached to 714,200 units”
He said that the sales of new vehicles and second-hand vehicles were 392,000 and 322,000 respectively, with 19,000 new vehicles and 120,000 second-hand vehicles more than last year.

According to the statistics of ICAB, the sales volume of new vehicles and second-hand vehicles in 2006 are 3.4 times and 5.9 times of that in 2000 respectively.

In Mr. Zhang’s opinion, the trade of second-hand vehicles grew much faster than that of new vehicles and will continue in the following years, which is a lightspot for Beijing’s leading role in domestic auto market.
