Recently, Daihatsu said the first small-size MPV D-01 model to be launched soon was the outcome of technology cooperation. After the sales volume hit 30,000 units, they would look to cooperation with FAW.

Executive officer of Daihatsu China said D-01 would be launched in China this year with Daihatsu brand and with Chinese characters on the rear part. In Oct, 2005, Daihatsu signed the contract with FAW on technology authority and decided to make production in Jilin. Daihatsu may select some FAW sales shops to sell new model and aimed to have 120 shops across the country except Tibet.

By his words, Daihatsu had sent more than 100 technicians to China for design, production, sale and quality control. A special department was established in Jilin Automobile Company in charge of all business of Daihatsu.
