Shanghai, April 17 (Gasgoo.com) Chery Automobile Co is in talks with Chrysler LLC about building an auto-making joint venture as the U.S. auto maker wanted to deepen their cooperation, Chery chairman was quoted as saying on Tuesday.

"Chrysler wants to deepen our current cooperation," Chery spokesman Jin Yibo told National Business Daily on Tuesday.

"Our options include setting up a joint venture." But He declined to elaborate.

Chery clinched the deal in Beijing with Chrysler Group in July 2007 to make small cars for the North American and European markets.

The first model in the partnership will be a Dodge based on Chery's 1.3-liter A1 hatchback, said top executives of the two sides.
