Changan brand Zhixiang and V101 concept unveiled at Beijing Auto Show

Shanghai, April 25 (Gasgoo.com) Changan Auto unveiled the Zhixiang sedan and several other models under its own brand at the 2008 Beijing Auto Show.

Zhixiang measures 181 inches long and is powered by a 2.0-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine that makes 150 horsepower and 142 pound-feet of torque. Mated to a four-speed automatic transmission, the engine enables a top speed of 125 mph and 0-60-mph acceleration in 11.2 seconds.

Priced between 79,800 yuan ($11,410) and 115,900 yuan, the model will go on sale after the show and is expected to compete directly with Buick Excelle, VW Bora, Honda Civic and Peugeot 307.

Changan is showing another concept model, codenamed V101. It's small-medium class sedan which will compete with Corolla, Focus, and Mazda3 etc.

V101 features a wheelbase of 2,500mm - about the same size as Accent - and will be powered by 1.3L or 1.5 L engine. The latter generates 70kW of power with a maximum torque of 137 Nm.

Four or five production models based on the V101 will be launched in the near future, with a price tag of 6,500 yuan.
