The operation of the significant route is supported by both self-driving logistics cars and a cloud-based smart management system. According to the automaker, the vehicles deployed are NEVs offered by Baojun EV. The level 4 autonomous driving system installed in the car can perceive and monitor its surroundings in real time with the accuracy down to a few centimeters. Besides, the cloud-based management system offers services like remote control and data analysis, so as to enhance the management efficiency and driving safety.

The trial operation of the route kicked off in last November, said SGMW. From the time being, vehicles have driven over 10,000 kilometers and served for more than 6,000 times. Amid the anti-epidemic fight, the route plays a very useful role that sees vehicles transport goods without human behind the steering wheel, ensuring smooth and contactless logistics procedures.

The joint venture recently earns many thumbs-up by shifting gears to produced facial masks, one of urgently needed medical supplies during the combat against the coronavirus. “Wuling produced what people need”, the automaker prints the tagline on mask packages.

In a bid to enlarge the mask capacity, SGWM has been also involved in manufacturing the machine that outputs masks. It claimed on Feb. 19 that its first homegrown mask-production machine had rolled off the assembly line. From then on, the joint venture became the first automaker in China that produces both masks and mask-production facility.

Moreover, the company handed over on Feb. 20 the first batch of its self-developed smart mobile temperature measuring vehicles to Liuzhou government. Boasting compact car body and outstanding maneuverability, the Baojun-branded NEVs are used to measure body temperature of crowds by virtue of AI detection system and infrared body temperature measuring system.
