To break down the number, the registrations of the ID.4X stood at 2,883 vehicles(including one registered in January)while the rest 2,442 registrations came from the ID.4 CROZZ.

Deliveries of the two models officially started in March, 2021. The ID.4X version is produced by SAIC VW while the ID.4 CROZZ is made by the other joint venture of VW Group, FAW VW.

Beijing and Chengdu were the two cities whose customers bought more ID.4 CROZZs. Both cities’ registrations of the ID.4 CROZZ surpassed 400 vehicles. But both cities have different situations. Thanks to favorable policies and infrastructure advantages, consumers in Beijing show more reception to electric vehicles. Chengdu’s high registration volume was because of orders from major clients. June registrations of Chengdu amounted to 378 vehicles, 319 of which were for operational fleets.

In the first six months of this year, most registrations of the ID.4 X were from Shanghai, where consumers bought insurance for 1,382 ID.4 Xs. Beijing was a distant runner-up, with only 117 vehicles registered.

In order to increase registrations of other cities, SAIC VW has set up an operation team whose members have been dispatched to 30 cities to help build stores and create service standard.

Even though the total volume was not so high in the first half of this year, registrations of the ID.4 keep increasing. For example, the registrations of the ID.4 CROZZ in June managed to exceed 1,000 vehicles, while SAIC VW’s retail sales of the ID. series in July surpassed 3,000, doubling compared with the previous month.

Stephan Wöllenstein, CEO of Volkswagen Group China, said that with the increasing reception from Chinese consumers, the group’s ID. series will have better sales performance in 2022. “We are confident that we can achieve our sales target.”
