The patent is about a “battery assembly, battery module and battery energy storage device”. According to the information posted by CNIPA, the device is designed to lower the risk of thermal runaway in cells through such structural designs as fixed heat-insulation frame, cell pressure relief valve, and prior flue gas passage.

The Shanghai-based auto giant announced in late June that its new-generation power battery system will be put into volume production at the end of 2021 and will be first applied in the newest premium model under R Auto. In 2025, the automaker will launch a solid-state lithium ion battery boasting “high safety and high energy density”, and being “commercially viable”.

According to SAIC Motor, the all-new power battery system will not only be compatible with lithium iron phosphate, ternary-lithium, high-nickel, lithium-doped silicon batteries, and also support solid-state battery technology. Energy capacities it offers can satisfy the power demands for diverse levels of models covering the entry level to the large-sized luxury.

Besides, with an energy density of 194Wh/kg, the fresh power battery system is rated at 79% in energy conversion. A 5-minute charging can support a driving range of 135km, said SAIC Motor.
