The e-Power is a hybrid system in-house developed by Nissan, while featuring a 100% electric motor-driven system that provides responsive acceleration, smooth deceleration and cabin quietness similar to an EV. In conventional hybrid systems, the wheels are driven by an electric motor and a gasoline engine. However, in the e-POWER system, the gasoline engine is not connected to the wheels; it simply charges the battery.

The e-Power system will be manufactured by Dongfeng (Wuhan) Electric Drive Systems Co.,Ltd. Founded in August 2019, the company engages in producing Nissan-branded electric drive systems to support the vehicle production for Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Infiniti. It is expected to hit an annual output value of 3 billion yuan ($466.295 million) by 2023.
The start of e-Power system volume production indicates Dongfeng (Wuhan) Electric Drive Systems Co.,Ltd. has completed the installation and debugging of manufacturing facilities, and the building of TRM (total productive management) system and an operational system.
