In October, the auto group sold 12,736 ID. vehicles in total, representing a 25.8% increase from a month ago, thus marked another successful month for the ID. family.
Notably, the new member of the ID. family, the ID.3 hit the Chinese market by the end of October, merely a week ago, and already sold 1,255 vehicles.
The Chinese version of the ID.3 is priced at RMB159,888 to RMB173,888 ($24,964-$27,150).
Notably, the market feedbacks of the ID. series are not all positive. Numerous Chinese consumers have complained that several dealerships have been secretly offering customers rebates up to RMB10,000 ($1,562) on the newest model, despite Volkswagen kept emphasizing its direct distribution model with universal prices.
This was not the first time for the automaker to trap itself in pricing disputes. Early on, on the dealerships’ marketing flyers, it clearly stated that customers could get a RMB24,000 ($3,750) discount if they purchase an ID.4 X in full, and RMB31,000 ($4,843) for ID.6 X. On top of that, if customers choose any financial plan for the car, they are promised a discount worth RMB18,000 ($2,812).
