GAC Group announces carbon neutrality target at Auto Guangzhou 2021
Guangzhou (Gasgoo)- China’s main automaker Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC Group) announced that it will realize life-cycle carbon neutrality of its products before 2050 at the Guangzhou Auto 2021 on November 19, apart from presenting its electrified and intelligent vehicles.

Specifically, the group aims to set 2045 as the year to achieve the target of carbon neutrality. For this target, GAC AION, its new energy vehicle (NEV) business unit, will build the first zero-carbon factory within the group. In 2025, NEV sales of the group’s self-owned brands are expected to account for half of their total sales while NEV sales of the entire group will have a share of 50% in 2030.
The whole product portfolio of GAC Trumpchi will have hybrid option in 2025 and 60% of the subsidiary’s sales in 2030 will be from hybrid vehicles. Besides, the group plans to further develop alternative fuel powered models, including hydrogen powered vehicles.

Under its energy action planning, the group will offer flexible options in battery, thanks to its super-fast charging technologies and battery swapping technologies. Customers can buy or rent vehicle batteries which can be charged or swapped. Notably, the group will provide batteries with different capacity and range for customers to choose from. The trade and recycling of electricity will also be possible. The battery swappable models built on the new GEP3.0 platform will be available on the market in 2023.
GAC Group also launched its newly upgraded E/E architecture, the X-Soul, which is composed of cloud computing architecture for digital image of vehicles and three high performance computer sets, namely central computer, intelligent driving computer and infotainment computer. With the help of high speed ethernet, 5G, cyber security, function safety technologies, the architecture can support autonomous driving and electrification technologies as well.

At the show, GAC Group also unveiled two concept models, the TIME electric concept coupe and the EMKOO concept model.
