The leaked photo showed that the MPV inherited the Hongqi family design language, with a large vertical intake grill paired with the automaker’s signature red flag symbol. The vehicle seems to adopt a split-type lighting set, with blinker lights on its rearview mirrors.

In fact, the rendered picture of the Hongqi MPV, dubbed “C095” internally, was already exposed. The vehicle is reportedly positioned as a luxury MPV, rivaling the Toyota Alphard and the Buick GL8 Avenir.

As previously talked about, the annual production capacity of the C095 is 20,000 units, targeting the high-end business-use market and testing the waters in the family-use market.

Notably, more and more automakers are branching out to the MPV market.

For example, Dongfeng Motor’s premium EV brand, VOYAH, has just debuted its second vehicle model and first MPV model in November. The VOYAH MPV is also the first-ever battery-electric large-sized luxury MPV worldwide.

Moreover, one of the young Chinese EV startups, IT BOX, is unveiling its first vehicle model, the BM-400, on December 15th. The leaked photo of the car also indicates an MPV-like appearance.

Additionally, the first China-made Toyota SIENNA also hit the Chinese market at the end of October.
