According to Tesla’s Chinese website, the Model 3 RWD is now priced at RMB265,652 ($41,674), increasing RMB10,000 ($1,569) from before. The price of the Model Y RWD went up RMB21,000 ($3,294) to RMB301,840 ($47,350) with an expected delivery time of 12 to 16 weeks. Moreover, the Model Y RWD will no longer benefit from China’s new energy subsidies.

A month ago, in November, the price of the China-made Model 3 RWD trim went up RMB15,000 ($2,353), and again by RMB5,643 ($885) less than a week later. The then price of the Model Y was also adjusted to RMB280,752 ($44,046).

In addition, the range of the Model 3 on a full charge was improved from 468 km of NEDC range to 556 km of CLTC range. The Model 3's and Model Y’s 0-100 acceleration capability slowed down from 5.6 seconds to 6.1 seconds and 6.9 seconds, respectively.

As to the reason behind the price increase, Elon Musk explained that the pressure from the supply chain had hit the company hard, so the prices had to be raised. The chip supply crunch has directly postponed Tesla’s new model launch. The company expected the situation to improve in at least 12 months, the CEO added.
