HUAWEI, SERES’s SF5 said to be discontinued with AITO M5 on the market

Beijing (Gasgoo)- While SERES, the automaker famous for its partnership with HUAWEI, is drowning in orders for its shiny new HUAWEI AITO M5 model, its initial HUAWEI-powered SF5 model is put in suspected discontinuation.

AITO is the latest fruit of HUAWEI’s auto endeavor, and a collaborated high-end auto brand with SERES launched on December 2nd, 2021. The AITO M5 debuted on December 23rd, already bringing the partners with over 7,000 orders, said a HUAWEI salesperson to a local media outlet.

According to SF5 owners, the offline SERES stores were all changed into AITO stores, while the two companies stopped receiving orders for the SF5 model. The existing exhibition vehicles are all on sale with discounts.

SERES and a HUAWEI flagship store both responded that the SF5 is not discontinued, and users can still receive aftersales services in AITO stores. 

The sources close to the matter said that the order suspension is only temporary due to the short supply of the model. Currently, the order number for the SF5 has already surpassed the factory’s estimated production volume till the Chinese New Year. The order process might resume sometime close to the Chinese New Year, the local media outlet added.

Moreover, on December 25th, SERES announced that the company would provide a lifetime warranty for firsthand SF5 owners. Under the circumstance that SF5 owners want to purchase or switch to an AITO model, they will benefit from an RMB10,000 subsidy from the company.  

Notably, the SF5, being the first HUAWEI, SERES cooperated model, sold 7,080 units since it hit the market from April 2021 to November 2021.

Unlike the SF5, HUAWEI is deeply involved in the birth of the AITO M5 through R&D, design, manufacturing, and sales.
