When asked about the situation, HUAWEI BU's head of the PR said "no idea", while Su Jing has not responded.

Early in October 2021, a rumor spread about Su Jing's whereabouts that the executive would join HUAWEI and Volkswagen's expected joint venture company to develop autonomous driving technologies. However, the news was soon proved "false information" by HUAWEI. Later on January 11th, the then CEO of Volkswagen China, Stephan Wöllenstein, disclosed that the two companies were in talks regarding the matter. However, nothing is set in stone, "including the possible joint venture".

As the development leader of HUAWEI’s Davinci AI chip architecture, Su Jing is a recognized tech master, but his sharp speeches suffer from controversy constantly.

In April 2021, Su Jing's standpoint on autonomous driving was made clear to the public at the HUAWEI, ARCFOX collaborated αS HI model launch party. Su Jing said, "Robotaxi is an outcome rather than a business goal at this stage."

Three months later, the executive openly commented on Tesla's autonomous driving technology, which was later interpreted as "manslaughter" by media outlets. The comment spread instantly like wildfire and led to his removal from the BU office by Ren Zhengfei directly.
