FAW Group sells over 300,000 vehicles in Jan. with best-ever Hongqi monthly sales

Beijing (Gasgoo)- One of China’s largest auto groups, FAW Group, sold over 300,000 vehicles in January, with its Hongqi brand's sales hitting a record high, the automaker announced on February 13th.

In the first month of 2022, FAW Group produced 290,371 vehicles and sold 311,508 vehicles. As to individual brands, the group’s mainstay line, the Hongqi brand, produced 37,758 vehicles in January, surging 60.9% year on year. In the same month, Hongqi saw its sales volume grow 29.6% from a year ago to a new high of 42,158 vehicles. Notably, the H5 model sold 13,137 vehicles, while the sales volume of the HS5 summed up to 24,451 vehicles.    

In 2021, the Hongqi brand accomplished an over 50% year-on-year jump in its annual sales, to more than 300,000 vehicles, growing 63 times in four years.

The group’s other wholly-owned brand, Bestune, sold 5,466 vehicles in January, while production volume amounted to 3,500 vehicles.

FAW Jiefang, the commercial vehicle segment of FAW Group, sold over 28,000 vehicles in the first month of 2022, with its production volume equaling 26,000 vehicles at the same time.

On the other hand, FAW’s two major joint ventures also did well at the beginning of 2022. In January, FAW Volkswagen produced 181,573 vehicles and sold 182,977 vehicles. Meanwhile, the total manufacturing volume of FAW Toyota amounted to 40,964 vehicles, and sales volume to 51,741 vehicles.
