Faurecia breaks ground on automotive electronics factory in China’s Jiangxi province

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On Feb. 15, Faurecia Clarion Electronics, a business group of the leading auto parts supplier Faurecia, broke ground on its intelligent “future factory” in Fengcheng, a county-level city in China's Jiangxi province, marking a significant headway for Faurecia China’s full-industrial-chain automotive electronics project.

Faurecia said in a press release that the new factory will be built in accordance with the industry's leading standards in such aspects as automation, carbon neutrality, and environmentally friendly construction. It will help the company further strengthen its capability of the supply chain in the automotive electronics business.

Faurecia signed an agreement with the local government of Fengcheng for the automotive electronics program in 2021. Per the deal, the company planned to invest 1.6 billion yuan ($252 million) in total by 2028 in upgrading production facilities, smart warehouses, information management system, infrastructures, and expanding production scale on the basis of Faurecia Coagent Electronics S&T Co., Ltd., a joint venture Faurecia built in 2017 to develop integrated and innovative in-vehicle infotainment solution.

On Jan. 31, Faurecia announced that it had completed the acquisition of a controlling interest in Hella GmbH & Co. KGaA. The combined group, named FORVIA, will serve as the world’s seventh largest automotive supplier. In the future, Hella’s automotive electronics business and Faurecia Clarion Electronics' operations will be merged to support Faurecia in the transition of electrification and intelligence.
