Sources previously disclosed that the German luxury vehicle giant is lifting the prices on its models starting April 2nd, as a result of the raw material price hike, and the supply shortages. On April 2nd, the vehicle prices on its official Chinese website have already been adjusted. Aside from the E 350 e L plug-in hybrid, other models all saw various price increases, especially the imported models.

Specifically, the E300 L has the most minor price rise among Mercedes’ product lineup, with an RMB900 increase. On the contrary, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC saw its price surge from RMB2.98 million to RMB3.101 million, with an RMB121,000 difference.

Among the relatively popular models in the Chinese market, the imported E-class models saw an RMB5,200 to RMB6,400 increase. The prices of the GLC 300 L lineup rose by RMB5,600 to RMB5,700. The luxury S-class has a drastic adjustment from RMB30,000 on the S 400 L Business model, to RMB100,000 on the Mercedes-Maybach S 580 4MATIC model.

Notably, the ongoing price hike among automakers in China is all on new energy vehicle models due to the battery material price rising through the roof. However, the price increase issued by Mercedes is on fossil-fueled vehicles.
