The company’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sales totaled 15,533 vehicles in April, surging 81.2% year on year. Its cumulative NEV sales volume added up to 68,587 vehicles for the past four months this year, skyrocketing 168.5% year over year.
In the meantime, Chery Holding shipped 84,993 vehicles overseas in the January to April period, representing a 12.6% increase from a year ago. The company also outdid itself regarding export volume compared to the same period in history.
Chery Holding explained that the sales drop was a consequence of the pandemic in the country, which has affected its production. However, by the beginning of May, the carmaker has regained 70% of its normal production capacity, and is catching up with its backlogs. With the situation improving, Chery Holding predicted a new round of sales surge in the second half of 2022.
Brand-wise, Chery Auto sold 41,884 vehicles in April, summing up to a year-to-date volume of 214,039 vehicles, up 12.4% from 2021. In the past four months, the company sold 50,786 units of its signature Tiggo8 SUV. On April 26th, Chery Holding celebrated its 500,000th Tiggo8 rolled off the production line.
