According to the automaker, the first phase of the Ningde base covers an area of 2,100mu (1.4 million square meters) with a total investment of 5 billion yuan ($740.412 million). Its assembly workshop is claimed as the biggest one in Asia with an area of around 140,000 square meters.
The first phase of the Ningde-based plant features an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles, indicating a production speed of one car per minute on average.
Since the volume production started in 2019, the Ningde plant has produced such models as the MG HS, the MG eHS, the MG Pilot, the CLEVER, and the MG ONE.
The MG MULAN, a fire new all-electric vehicle model under SAIC Motor-owned MG brand, made its world’s debut on June 13. Targeting the global markets, the model rides on the new 'Nebula' platform designed solely for all-electric cars. Notably, the first mass-produced MULANs came off the assembly line at the Ningde factory in May this year.
