Just earlier in May, another Chinese new energy vehicle startup, NIO, also witnessed the delivery of its 200,000th vehicle.
Chairman and CEO of XPeng, He Xiaopeng, said that the 200,000th vehicle mark might not seem like a big deal in the vast auto industry, but for XPeng, it represented the trust and anticipation from 200,000 users who chose to believe in the automaking startup.
In May, XPeng delivered 10,125 vehicles, surging 78% year over year. With 4,224 vehicles delivered in May, the P7 model sustained its favorable position among XPeng’s product lineup. In the meantime, 3,686 P5s and 2,215 G3is were delivered in the month.
In the first five months of 2022, XPeng’s accumulative delivery volume amounted to 53,688 vehicles, soaring 122% compared to the same period last year. Moreover, the auto startup said that its Zhaoqing factory has adopted a double-shift production schedule since mid-May to catch up with its massive back log accumulated in the first quarter of this year.
According to the company’s first quarter financial statement, XPeng projected that it would see a quarterly delivery volume of 31,000-34,000 vehicles in the April-June period. In April, XPeng’s monthly deliveries reached 9,002 units.
