Changan Automobile July sales up 12.91% YoY

Beijing (Gasgoo)- In July, Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd. (Changan Automobile) saw a year-on-year jump of 12.91% in its monthly sales volume, which stood at 200,911 vehicles, according to the automaker’s sales report.

In the past seven months, Changan Automobile sold 1,326,675 vehicles, notching down 3.78% year on year. In the period, the automaker's wholly-owned brands saw their sales notch down 3.66% year on year to 1,059,125 units, 757,517 units of which were passenger vehicles (+0.44% YoY).

Notably, Changan Automobile sold 23,396 wholly-owned new energy vehicles in July, which soared 84.21% from the year-ago period. In 2022, the company’s cumulative sales volume of wholly-owned new energy vehicles amounted to 108,354 units by the end of July, skyrocketing 116.34% compared to the earlier year. 

In July, the automaker moved 20,833 wholly-owned vehicles abroad, summing up to a cumulative sales result of 122,507 vehicles in the first seven months of 2022, surging 65.51% from the same span last year.

As to the company’s joint-venture brands, Changan Ford and Changan Mazda sold 23,603 vehicles and 8,002 vehicles respectively in July, slipping down 9.38% and 20.02% compared to the previous year. In the Jan.-Jul. period, Changan Ford and Changan Mazda sold a respective 136,246 vehicles and 71,657 vehicles cumulatively, indicating a subsequent 7.34% dip and 1.88% growth year on year.
