Haval Cool Dog SUV starts at 123,800 yuan

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The Haval Cool Dog (dubbed “Kugou” in Chinese), a new SUV model under Great Wall Motor ("GWM")'s Haval brand, officially hit the market on August 10. Coming with four trim levels, the model is priced between 123,800 yuan and 149,800 yuan ($18,360-$22,220).

At the launching ceremony, the automaker formed a strategic partnership with the homonymic music streaming service provider Kugou, as part of its branding tactics.

The fire new SUV model rides on GWM's L.E.M.O.N. platform. The Cool Dog's exterior still inherits some cues of the Haval Big Dog. The front grille seamlessly connects to the round headlights, which are embedded with cross-shaped LED daytime running lights and cornering lamps.

As for the side profile, the rugged-looking model renders a visual styling of an off-roader, delivering an approach angle of 21 degrees, a departure angle of 25 degrees, and a ramp angle of 18.4 degrees, with a minimum ground clearance of 196mm. The two-tone five-spoke wheels also look recognizable.

Positioned as a compact SUV, the Cool Dog measures 4,520mm long, 1,875mm wide, and 1,745mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,710mm.

At the rear, a large-sized side window is located between the C and D pillars. The bulging place creates a retro-inspired effect like a wrapped spare tire.

On the inside, the designer uses multiple flat lines to create a rugged style. The cockpit contains such amenities as a floating console-mounted screen, a full liquid crystal dashboard, a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, and an electronic gear shifter.

Built on GWM's V3.5 "COFFEE Intelligence" platform, the Haval Cool Dog is armed with an intelligent interaction system that is able to recognize 30 scenarios and 48 voice demands. It uses the 50W wireless charging technology to reduce 60% charging time compared to that of a normal charging facility.

Powering the vehicle is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that can pump out 135kW at most, paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. Moreover, the Haval Cool Dog comes with both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options.
