GAC Trumpchi starts presale of EMKOO SUV

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Trumpchi, the self-owned passenger vehicle brand of GAC Motor, saw its 3 millionth complete vehicle, an EMKOO SUV, roll off the production line on August 18.

The company kicked off the presale of the EMKOO at the same time. As a strategic model embodying GAC Trumpchi’s resolution to become a new energy technology company, the EMKOO will come with 6 trim levels, featuring a presale price range of 13,200 yuan to 17,200 yuan ($1,930-$2,520).

The appearance of the Trumpchi EMKOO comprises a slew of sharp edges and straight lines. The front end gets a V-shaped frameless grille and matrix headlights. As for the side profile, the pop-out door handles and a rear spoiler can be easily noticed.

The new SUV measures 4,680mm long, 1,901mm wide, and 1,670 tall, with a wheelbase of 2,750mm. It will come with five body color options.

The EMKOO's interior features a sporty flat-bottomed three-spoke steering wheel, a floating screen, and a diamond-styled gear selector. The model's entry-level and higher trims get a 7-inch and 10.25-inch instrument panel, respectively. All variants come standard with a 14.6-inch console-mounted main screen, which features the ADiGO 5.0 intelligent driving system powered by the Qualcomm 8155 chip.

Riding on the GMPA (GAC Global Platform Modular Architecture), the EMKOO is offered in three powertrain solutions. The entry-level adopts a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol-powered engine, which is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The more powerful fuel-burning one uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Notably, the HEV version is equipped with the GMC 2.0 hybrid system, which consists of a 2.0ATK engine, an electric motor, and 2-speed DHT (dedicated hybrid transmission).
