China’s Lenovo looking for talents for automotive computing lab

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese tech titan Lenovo Group on Monday announced via its WeChat account that it would not build cars, in response to the car-building rumor coming after the company posted the job listings for the automotive industry talents.

Despite the decision not to make cars, the company said it would leverage its advantages in talents and computing technologies, as well as its world's leading supply chain system to boost the development of the intelligent and new energy vehicle industry.

The company added Lenovo's automotive computing laboratory would focus on the R&D and applications of the core technologies related to intelligent cockpit, autonomous driving, and central computing platform. In the future, the lab will use its technical achievements in R&D and manufacturing of intelligent vehicles.

Currently, Lenovo's automotive computing R&D team has around 50 staff members. The company plans to recruit another 100 members by the end of this financial year for the team.

Aside from Beijing and Shanghai, Lenovo's automotive computing arm is also looking for talents in Wuhan and Hefei cities.

Lenovo has already made investments in many auto-related companies, including leading Chinese NEV startup NIO, battery giant CATL, autonomous driving tech developer QCraft, and chip suppliers of Cambricon and SemiDrive.
