Great Wall Motor boasts 18.81% YoY jump in Aug. 2022 auto sales

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Great Wall Motor (“GWM”) announced this week its monthly auto sales reached 88,226 units in August 2022, growing 18.81% from the previous year, while falling 13.44% from the previous month.

For the first eight months of this year, GWM sold 708,671 vehicles, representing a 9.61% year-on-year decline.

Of the new vehicles sold in the Jan.-Aug. period, 14.41% were priced above 200,000 yuan ($28,810).

Among GWM's brands, only WEY and ORA failed to see a year-on-year upward movement in August sales. HAVAL still topped others with a sales volume of 50,400 units, while TANK was the fastest-growing one.

GWM Pickup scored a 41.25% leap compared to the year-ago period in its Aug. sales. Notably, the sales of the Great Wall POER series rocketed 113.25% year over year to 10,673 units last month.

TANK brand's monthly sales zoomed up 66.58% from the previous year to 10,008 units in August. At the Chengdu Motor Show 2022, the automaker unveiled the TANK 300 HEV and the TANK 500 PHEV, which are built on TANK’s super off-road hybrid EV architecture launched at the same time. Global presale of the two new models will kick off this year.Last month, GWM's export volume and sales of overseas markets totaled 15,374 vehicles, jumping 23.99% over a year earlier.
