Car and City: Leapmotor registers over 10,000 vehicles for four straight months by Sept.
In the ninth month of 2022, Leapmotor, China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) startup who went public on the Hong Kong Exchange on September 29, saw its auto registrations almost tripled from a year ago, according to the data compiled by Gasgoo Auto Research Institute (GARI).
In September, Leapmotor’s registration volume reached 10,389 vehicles in total, skyrocketing 174.26% year over year. By the end of September, the automaker's cumulative annual auto registrations summed up to 77,591 vehicles, shooting up 191.15% from the same span in 2021. Notably, the startup has recorded a streak of over 10,000 units monthly registrations since June this year.

Currently, the Hangzhou-based company has four models on the market, namely its mainstay mini-EV model, the T03, the company’s first production model, the S01, Leapmotor’s first SUV model, the C11, and its higher-end sedan coupe, the C01.
In the past month, registrations of the T03 mini-EV and the C11 SUV held 97% of Leapmotor’s total monthly registration volume, with a respective 5,085 and 5,033 vehicles registered. Meanwhile, the automaker’s latest model, the C01, was registered by 270 units across China.
In September, two cities came closely on top with 529 and 525 Leapmotor vehicles registered, namely Hangzhou and Taizhou. The rest of the eight cities on the top ten list of Oct. registrations all registered over 200 vehicles. Notably, aside from Zhengzhou of Henan Province and Zhongshan of Guangdong Province, the rest eight of the top ten cities are all located in the Shanghai-Zhejiang Province-Jiangsu Province area.
