In November, Nissan Motor sold 47,983 vehicles in China, indicating a 52.5% decrease over the previous year, and a 46% drop from October. For the first eleven months of the year, Nissan Motor’s cumulative China sales volume amounted to 974,715 vehicles, down 20.2% from a year ago.
In the past month, Dongfeng Motor Co. & Ltd. (DFL), the joint venture between Dongfeng Motor and Nissan Motor, saw its passenger vehicle unit sell 45,346 vehicles (including Nissan, Venucia, and Infiniti brands), which reflected a 53.3% decline year over year. From January to November, the cumulative sales volume of the unit summed up to 835,388 vehicles, slipping down 19.1% compared to the same span in 2021.
Notably, in May, Dongfeng Automobile Company (DFAC), the light truck company, announced that its controlling shareholder has been changed from DFL to Dongfeng Motor Group (DFMG). Due to adjustments, sales data of DFAC are no longer included in Nissan Motor’s China sales report from October 2022.
In November, DFL's light truck sector sold 2,637 vehicles in November in the Chinese market, representing a 34.2% decrease from the previous year. In the past eleven months of 2022, its accumulative sales volume amounted to 139,327 vehicles (including the Jan.-Sept. sales of DFAC), dropping 26.3% year over year.
